Within an area 1.5 miles long and 0.5 miles wide are:
- 19 health and medical institutions and 61 research and clinical labs
- More than one million patients seen in 2004
- More than 2,300 physicians
- Almost 12,000 staff employees, two thirds of the hospital employees in Minneapolis
- More than 250 researchers
- More than $25 million received in research funds
It is this incredible concentration of medicine, research, and education that prompted the creation of the physician and researcher-led Minneapolis Lifesciences Corridor.
The Minneapolis Lifesciences Corridor is more than simply a partnership among three large hospitals, it is a collaborative working to advance health, improve research and technology, increase educational and economic development opportunities, and develop strong community-business partnerships among those working and living along the corridor.
By working together, we will surpass our individual efforts to improve human health, the region’s economy, and the city’s livability.
